  European in Shenyang.

  On a business trip to this hotel. I have stayed in better hotels. My room was cold (-20C outside), I think they turned the heat off at night, . double glazing not up to the job. The lighting was poor in the room, no central light, two of the three standard lamps worked but dim, very difficult to read, too dark. There is an Internet service which was not bad, speed was Ok, Skype calls worked fine. I cannot recommend the food in the hotel. There was no "dining room", just several small rooms with a large table to seat about 12 people, they initially offered for me to dine in my room, I initially declined, but after 10 mins of sitting in the unheated dining booth (except for a single portable heater and an open door), I headed for my room. I git stomach crams at 03:00 and spent a lot of the night in the bathroom. Got other accommodation after that, never want to go back there.

  Wow this place is REALLY cold

  Perspective ; it was -21C when I arrived so did not go out much except for my business meeting and a walk around the town centre. Hotel was really comfortable and the breakfast was good but English is only spoken well by a few of the staff but as I only stayed one night I cannot comment on the different shifts of the staff. On my next trip to Shenyang I will definitely return to this hotel and hopefully write a fuller review.

  A good fortnight

  My room was on the 9th floor and had a good view over the city. The bed was firm and very good. The breakfast was very generous, the chef had a few words of English, enough to tell me the Chinese Women's team were playing in Canada. The staff were all helpful and one or two could speak English well. There was a handy shop in the lobby which was as good value as any outside. We had a problem with the water at 1am and the staff at the reception came up immediately and looked after us. The air conditioning was fine, I didn't turn it on at night as I don't like the noise of the fan. Internet is on a wired connection. I would happly stay there again.
