Perfect... even for me as a hotel manager

Knowing what you want and what you have booked is vital and only fair on yourself and the hotel you review!!! This hotel provides what you need and nothing more, no fancy spa or swimming pool...but smiling, helpful and friendly staff with bedrooms and service you expect. CHECK IN - Mike was brilliant from the start, knowing exactly what we were there for... To Ski and have fun. We were in our room within minutes and told if we needed anything someone will always be at mikes sports bar on the ground floor. BEDROOMS/SHOWER clean, spacious and excellent power shower with plenty of hot water! We opted to only have our room cleaned twice during our week stay, but when it was cleaned it was done elegantly with little friendly decorations of our quilt and pillows 'nice touch housekeepers'. BREAKFAST - typical continental with the addition of scrambled or boiled eggs. I can't see the need for anything more just before you ski or snowboard. Wi-Fi - it's free people, and also very fast! LOCATION - again knowing you are a ten minute walk is key, but the bus stops just outside. To be honest being just outside the hustle and bustle allowed for a peaceful nights sleep even with the sports bar downstairs! Somehow insulated from all noise below. MIKE SPORTS BAR - yes it's smoking friendly but half of Mayrhofen is. It feels slightly strange being from the UK but there are rooms designated for families so the kids don't have to sit in the bar! Sport shown everyday with great atmosphere. Overall a great stay for my friends and I, a relaxed environment, that of a BnB feel allowed us to come and go as we pleased! Top tip - Mo's bar on the corner of the crossroads is cheap and cheerful for food and drinks, otherwise the steakhouse is amazing for that extra bit of money! We rented from sport 2000 also great choice. Thank you Mike, Meg and the rest of the team!

    NOT FOR NON-SMOKERS!

I have just returned from a week's skiing in Mayrhofen and stayed at the Hotel Siegelerhof through Crystal Ski. The hotel is well situated, next to a ski bus stop. The room was basic but very clean and had a powerful shower and plenty of hot water. The breakfast was good with fresh rolls and croissants every day, together with cold meats, eggs etc. The staff were friendly. However, the MAJOR DOWNSIDE was the smoke from Mike's Sports Bar which is an integral part of the hotel (used as a breakfast room in the morning). It is very popular with non-residents every night who come to watch sport, drink and smoke. There is no door between the bar and the rest of the hotel. Therefore the smell of smoke permeates the whole building. It hits you as soon as you walk through the front door and continues upstairs onto the landings and into the bedrooms. Several residents I spoke to were also complaining about this. If you don't smoke, don't stay at the Siegelerhof.

    Good stay

I stayed there for a week skiing last year. good breakfast- mixture of hot and cold food. Double Rooms a good size and clean. Good location near the ski lift. Mikes sport bar is downstairs. It closes at 11 due to guests upstairs. No issue with the bar. Overall a good stay.

    Cost Efficient and Clean

My husband and I stayed here for 1 week over new year, in order to stay in Mayrhofen. Its a little confusing as its known as Mikes Sports Bar. We had read the reviews before arriving so were a bit wary about how smelly the rooms were going to be. I have to say we were pleasantly surprised. The room was large, clean, warm and comfortable in a convenient location. Id be lying if I said you couldnt detect the smell of smoke, but as non-smokers, it wasnt terrible in our room (102). This a 3 star hotel so its basic. Theres no lift and no frills. Breakfast is average. However, if youre looking for somewhere cheap and central to stay, this is fine. There is no evening food. However, we were glad about this as Mayrhofen in cheaper than the UK to eat and drink so we had some amazing meals in the town. Mike was a helpful guy and the sport on in the bar was good and there was usually a great atmosphere in there.

    One week in Mayrhofen

Stayed one week on ski holiday. Location was excellent, at the bottom of the town just past the church. Ski bus stopped just outside for the Penken and Ahorn stations. There was a ski rental shop just on the corner. Restaurants and shops close by. A supermarket also just around the corner. The town is very pretty and it is also easy to walk around. The room was comfortable with a double bed and a large balcony. Breakfast was very good -fruit, ham, cheese, eggs, bread and croissants. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There was no noise between the rooms and only a little from the street. Some noise from the sports bar downstairs but I was on the second floor so it was minimal.and closed everynight at midnight. The first floor seemed noisier -be sure to request a second or third floor room if you want a quiet night. The only negative was the constant smoke from the bar which made it unpleasant to sit in. Everybody smoked indoors all evening so after the first evening I made sure to avoid it. Maybe with air conditioning it would have been bearable but it is an old building. And in Austria smokers have priority still. A pity because it was quite cosy but I spent my money elsewhere. Maybe avoid if you have asthma or lung problems. Overall I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come again.
